Northgates Superyard XT Gate Play Yard Description
Let me tell you this, the best place to find out detailed description about the product you are buying is usually manufacturers’ websites. You can find out specific product features, weight limits and dimensions for transportation everything in there. Having said that, I will give a quick description here just to give you an idea about the product.
North States Superyard XT Box contains six interlocking panels (each panel measuring 26 X 30 “), a carry-strap, and instructions for usage.
6 panels, (hexagonal shape) give about 18.5 square feet of play area. If you like to extend the overall area, consider purchasing a two-panel extension kit which increases the play yard’s space from 18.5 to 34 square feet.
The six interlocking panels are pre-connected. All you have to do is unfold and connect them together, and the Superyard XT is ready to use. To put away, simply disconnect one panel, fold together, and store.
It is lightweight (less than 20 pounds) and portable (folds flat).
Carrying straps make it easy to shift play yard from indoor to outdoor
Made of durable, weather-resistant plastic, so can withstand wear n tear. (My friend still has it after 6 years of regular usage)
Comes with 1 year warranty against manufacturer’s defect.
Though there are few gated play yards are available in the market, Superyard XT Gate Play yard is the one which is safe and not very expensive at the same time. Though it does not come with fancy accessories like diaper changing table, rotating playmates for the baby, it delivers what it promises… Large safe play area for the kids. Honestly, I don’t really care whether play yard has a special compartment to store few of the babies toys or not. What appeals to me most is it should be safe, roomy, durable and washable.
A word of caution. It is quite sturdy on the carpet but I would have to say, if you have wooden floor or laminate then consider putting rug beneath before assembling the play yard. It will prevent your baby getting hurt by falling and will also give more stability to the play yard if your kid tries to push the assembly.
Play Pen v/s Play Yard
When you have a “little cruiser” in the home you are always worried about the safety issues. All the baby proofing you do still falls short in front of your little explorer. Therefore having a safe play area becomes absolutely necessary.
Usually the playpens you see in the stores are tiny, with no hard base. The problem is since the baby will have just learnt crawling or walking they want plenty of space to move around and Hard base (I mean not too soft) for them to get balance. The playpen to me looks like a prison. It is safe alright but still a prison.
Play yards are so much better as babies get lot of room to play and since you set it up on the floor or ground, babies learn to balance themselves quickly. You can also get extension gates to increase the play area as the kid grows or as number of kids increase.
You can also take play yards outside and allow your child to play safely in the sun. Or you can use this for keeping away your over enthusiastic dog. Or use it to give room for small puppies to play. You can also protect your christmas tree from accidental tipping. Since you can disassemble and configure these play yards, you can pretty much alter the configurations and block off all the electronic units or fire place or sharp edges of the TV unit.
After having both playpen and play yard, I would strongly recommend play yard to everyone who is looking for providing safe but roomy play area for their kids.
Superyard XT Play Yard Safe Gate Play Pen For The Little Ones
When our little one started to crawl for the first time we were thrilled. Our happiness soon turned into worries when my daughter figured out how to climb the stairs. She got so good at it, the minute we turned our eyes away from her she was there climbing the stairs. So when we were looking for a child safety gate, one of our friends suggested Northern Gate’s Superyard XT Play Yard.
Though we had got her a play pen, she was not happy in there. As she now knew how to stand, she did not like the unstable base of the play pen. She also did not like the small area in the pen where she could not crawl or stand or basically move around. So we decided to get some sort of gate to keep her safe from the stairs and the TV unit while giving her more room to play.
We did not like what we saw in a few shops. Some of them were very flimsy, some of them were very fancy but less usable, and some of them required using our engineering brains in figuring out the operation. All we wanted was a plain easy to use, safe durable gate.
So when a good friend with two kids recommended Superyard XT play yard , we went in search of this. Superyard XT comes with six 30 1/2″ panels but can easily change to 4 panels. A two panel extension kit Model 8662 is also available for larger areas. It encloses 18.5 Square feet of space. Wow.. this had everything we were looking for. Larger space, Easy to use anywhere, keeps our daughter away from danger what else we could ask? Oh! yeah price. Well, everyone knows you can get it at bargain price at Amazon.
Now, being first time parents we have one less thing to worry about while we shop for more childproofing and child safety products.
