this is going to play on a loop in my head all day every day over and over and over and over and over and over and......

SMASH!

he likes bags.

so i had my driver's retraining program over the long weekend, which i had to do after getting 5 tickets in 3 years (only one of which was a moving violation, riddle me that). Basically I endured eight hours of state funded scare tactics and a standardized test (I'm a "FREEDOM DRIVER") and now my license will not be suspended. Hooray.

The rest of the week should be interesting. Sam Adams beer & food pairing tonight at the brewery, Cinderella Shoes or whatever it is tomorrow night, a breather on Friday and then a wedding to attend this weekend!

It's too rainy outside to go find soda, but i'm only 40 coke rewards points away from a free subscription to Details magazine! Also I am gay.

Has anyone ever had a problem with the Human Resources person at their office :/ It's like, who are you supposed to complain to...

EAT, SLEEP, DRINK MUSIK @ MILKY WAY
Hey guys,

Thursday night 5/7 ~ 10pm is the very first DRINK MUSIK night at the BRAND NEW Milky Way in the Sam Adams Brewery complex in JP. It's super easy to get to by car, a quick walk from Stony Brook on the orange line, and it's FREE! The new place looks great, there's a big parking lot and my roommate (of YES & NO) is spinning some really great house, electro & dubstep, and FTW's DOMINIQUE and Death Star DJs will be spinning too. I'd really love for them to get a great turnout for this, and it's a great opportunity to check out the new Milky Way.

So basically, if you are looking for a fantastic time tomorrow night, it's going to be here. Hope to see you! Full details here.

summer heights high
this is my favorite new(ish) tv show in a long time.

it finished already but i caught the whole thing on HBO On Demand. A mockumentary wherein the three central characters are all played by one incredible comedian (Australian Chris Lilley, who also created and wrote the series). I think it's hysterical, although it seems to polarize people. Matty usually can't sit through an entire episode. I wish I could just watch it all day, everyday.

There are rumblings of a "snow day" at my company tomorrow, which would be a perfect time to stay home and watch the whole series straight through at once. However, I might be plowing some parking lots for extra dough (!!) Can you imagine me riding around in a bobcat being manly and moving snow around!? oh god. I'll keep you posted.

Also my kitten is getting neutered today and it is costing me nearly 300 dollars. Sweeeeet!

ramblings
sometimes i think that i am getting dumber.

like, i used to really care about things and actively think about things. at some point i came to realize that when i stopped worrying, stopped thinking about the inevitable and the impossible and the unsolvable, i began to have more fun and to enjoy life more.

the only issue i still struggle with in all of that is that i wonder if maybe i am just lazy? did i give up on ideals, or is this the ideal? am i being selfish? maybe i am just being realistic enough to know that there is no sense in trying to make progress in some of the more static exterior aspects of my life?

specifically, for years i struggled with religion, and not just my own. every religion has its corresponding morals, messages, ideals... and mixed with the progress, conflict and (dis)organization of it all... it is a subject that still overwhelms me. there is no question that a life without these questions is easier and happier for me, personally. but is this escapism? did i avoid a resolution or is this the resolution? does it matter?

i think a part of me is just as happy to be a lemming, so long as i am at least self-aware enough to realize that i am exactly that.

this is the kind of thing i don't mind thinking about. i will think about myself. because at least there is no arguing, only rationalizing and questioning. i would hate to call it internalized 'conflict' because that sounds too harsh.

so. yeah. maybe i'm not dumber. maybe my thoughts have just switched from the outside (the frustrating, the ridiculous, the repulsive, the dirty and corrupt) to the inside, where at least i KNOW there is a stable core of moral decency in there somewhere. and i just plain don't care if that makes me self-centered. there is, at least, a center. thank god(?) for that.

choose your own adventure!

if you guys aren't doing google reader yet then you're crazy. you can compile all your favorite blogs onto one feed, which tells you whenever there is something new to read on each blog! it also looks less sketchy at work than that annoying pink perez page. the best part, though, is that you can share your favorite blog entries with your friends! they even put your shared items on one cute little public page. you can read mine here.

i hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend!

OH GOD, ALSO.
my nephew is officially the cutest little gnome child in the history of all time. Yes, he is wearing santa pants and little black booties. can you even deal? get there.

Passive Aggressive Note
Matty and I found this yesterday walking down Comm Ave.

Also my hair is a dark brown now. I dyed it blonde a second time hoping it would look a little more platinum, but it just turned out a lot more yellow. So, back to almost normal. Hopefully it doesn't fall out from all the frying lololols.

Hope everyone is having a good monday.
