Effective Home Acne Treatment Using Herbal Remedies and Natural Products

Despite popular opinion Acne can affect people of all ages. Hormonal imbalance is the main cause which of course happens during adolescence but can occur during pregnancy and at other life stages when extra pressure is placed on the body. Whatever the cause, you will want to try an effective home acne treatment that will work quickly.
There are many good reasons for choosing herbal acne remedies that only use natural ingredients but the main one is that they will work with your body. Many medicinal products can be very harsh and long term use can irritate the skin. That said if your acne is not responding to treatment or if it is very severe you should consult a doctor to see if other intervention is necessary.
Probably the most important thing to do is boost your body’s systems. Your body is equipped to cleanse itself very effectively but it can only do this if you are giving it good nutrition to work with. What you put into your body is the fuel it uses to keep everything working smoothly.
Fats and sugars do not directly cause spots. But if your diet contains high levels of fats, sugars and processed foods you are clogging your systems and your organs will be slowing under the strain.
Acne outbreaks should be seen as a signal that you are under strain and your body needs a boost. The best way to deal with this is to eat a diet rich in fresh fruit and vegetables. This will ensure you gain good levels of vitamins and minerals that are essential to your body’s functions. Fruit and vegetables also contain high levels of natural fibre will which keep your digestive system working and ensure you remove toxins efficiently.
Try to develop a regular and rigorous cleansing routine. You need to remove excess sebum for your skin and ensure loose skin cells are exfoliated so they cannot clog pores. Products that have natural anti-bacterial properties will also ensure bacteria doesn’t cause the inflammation that gives acne its classic redness.
For daily cleansing you could buy a product that is based on natural ingredients. Alternatively try mixing a little honey with natural yogurt. Massage the mixture gently onto your face for 2 minutes then rinse off with warm water. Natural yogurt contains probiotics bacteria which will kill harmful bacteria. Honey also has healing properties and it will promote healing.
Once a week you need to exfoliate. You can make a good facial scrub by mixing finely ground oatmeal to a paste with yogurt. Again gently massage over the face. The oatmeal will remove loose skin and also absorb oils and sebum leaving your face fresh and clean.
If the spots are not responding to cleansing or you are getting areas of redness you need to treat your skin with a stronger bacterial cleaner. Since bacteria are killed by increased acidity the best way to do this is to use citric fruits. Pulp from oranges or lemon work very effectively but the one I recommend is the tomato. Use the pulp, thickened with oatmeal if necessary as a face pack. Place over the face and leave for at least 30 minutes. You should see a visible reduction I redness very quickly.
Crushed Garlic also works well in killing bacteria, but it’s not a treatment I recommend just before a date!
To treat individual spots you can use tea tree oil. Tea Tree is a strong anti-bacterial and will need to be diluted with water or almond oil. If you find Tea tree irritates your skin you could try lavender oil which can be used neat.
If you need an emergency treatment on a single big spot you could try aspirin. Although not a natural treatment it is very effective for a fast solution. Crush a tablet with a spoon then add drop or two of water to make a paste. Apply the paste directly to the spot and leave for 15 minutes. Aspirin contains acyclic acid which is found in some over the counter spot treatments. It will kill bacteria, reduce inflammation and rapidly dry the spot.
As with any skin treatments do monitor your skin for reaction the first time you use it and stop if you notice any reaction. Skin treatment is a matter of trying products until you get success
