Re: Review: BlogPress for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch [Updated]

Hi Edward,

I see that the developer has released a new version (3.0.1) of BlogPress yesterday.

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app...

Re: Review: BlogPress for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch [Updated]

I'm not sure what happened to the BlogPress app. You may want to contact the developer at fenghuajun@gmail.com to find out what's going on.

Re: Review: BlogPress for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch [Updated]

Greetings, do you have any idea what happened to BlogPress? It is no longer in the app store. Thanks for the great article. Edward

Re: CSL LTE/DC-HSPA+ USB Modem

One of the reader ask where does CSL talk about thearbitrary caps on their plans. The answer is that they speak of these in their "Fair Use Policies"

Re: Review: L5 Remote for iPhone

I have it. You can download remotes made by other users with the codes. I guess that feature wasn't available during the time this video was made.

Re: Movie Review: Pirates of the Caribbean – On Stranger Tides

Re: Job Posting for Apple Store Hong Kong

Mad OS X. #epicfail

Re: China Counterfeit Explodes

Those who bought ShangZhai knock-off in HK here, I believe they knew it's counterfeit goods but because of the price, they rather give them a try. Nowadays, even big companies try to copy each other in-order to survive in the market. Especially the Smartphone and Tablet industry, other than we can see some invention in Apple iOS devices, it hard to see invention in Android devices. They just keep faster in specification, nothing really *new*. They all seem so similar in functionalities and design.

Maybe the world had changed. Good artist borrow, great artist steal, best artist clone....

Re: Smartone-Vodafone & iPhone Personal Hotspot

Yes, with iOS 4.3.1 the built in "Tethering" option is no longer there. It has been replaced by the "Personal Hotspot" feature.

Since the carriers have the ability to turn on and off "Personal Hotspot" feature for individual iPhones, it is assumed that Apple had provided the carriers a mean to distinguish these traffic.

Then again, many who have used MyWi in recent months; prior to the availability of Personal Hotspot, have received SMS from their carriers warning them of such use and continue usage will incur charges.

Re: Smartone-Vodafone & iPhone Personal Hotspot

Where do you find tethering? I don't find a separate "Tethering" option in my settings anymore. I'm using 4.3.1 and all references to tethering have been changed to "Personal Hotspot".

Re: Smartone-Vodafone & iPhone Personal Hotspot

Were you using Personal Hotspot on your iPhone or were you using Tethering? Although they have the same end results these are two separate thing.

Usage of Personal Hotspot does indeed marked as "Web Connection" by Smartone-Vodafone as I pointed out in my article.

Re: Smartone-Vodafone & iPhone Personal Hotspot

"Wireless (Bluetooth) Tethering is never detectable by the carriers, it is only when you tether via USB that the carrier will know about the traffic."

Just want to let you know that this is untrue on Smartone-Vodafone. I did a test and tethering via bluetooth was detected as a "web connection" and I was charged as my $238 plan does not include tethering.

Re: Drug Addiction Problem in Wanchai, Hong Kong

People with addiction are suffering a great deal. Addiction begins like fun, and then it turns into hell. No one deserved such a life. I admire each one of them who just try to get clean, it takes courage.

Re: Smartone-Vodafone & iPhone Personal Hotspot

Hi, I've checked and with Android it creates a personal hotspot, something that I think Apple have just launched with iOS 4.3. I've been using the personal hotspot set up with Android for a while. It seems though that the Apple one may be slightly different, in that mobile carriers have the ability to work out if you are using a personal hotspot or not...

Re: Smartone-Vodafone & iPhone Personal Hotspot

Wireless (Bluetooth) Tethering is never detectable by the carriers, it is only when you tether via USB that the carrier will know about the traffic.

The iOS Personal Hotspot is something different from the regular tethering, plus Apple has made it so that mobile carriers can turn the feature on and off. Since this on and off toggle can be done per individual bases, I assume it will not be something the carrier set in the mobileconfig file.

Re: Smartone-Vodafone & iPhone Personal Hotspot

When I used to be on SMV, I used to user wireless tethering with my Android every so often. It seems with Android SMV couldn't pick up the tethering distinction, as I never saw a "web connection" description on my bill. Further I was on the HK$250 a month plan, which specifically excluded tethering.

I'm now with 3HK, after several problems with SMV. So far the connection speed has been a bit better. 3HK does also have its own blackspots, but not as bad as I was experiencing with SMV. Also their plan is cheaper, at HK$210 a month and they offer decent, uncrippled, data daily roaming rates.

Re: Review: L5 Remote for iPhone

Re: Apple Store, IFC Hong Kong Taking Shape

I bet on March 2nd event Tim Cook will say something about the HK Apple Store.

Re: Apple Store Confirms in Hong Kong [Updated]

I don't think Hysan Place will be ready this year. The first Apple Store in Hong Kong will most likely be the IFC location, if the information are correct.

I too am a bit disappointed that the first Apple Store in HK is not a street level store like other cities around the world. At least we will finally receive the level of Customer Service we deserved, paid for and expects, rather than the horrible outsourced useless companies that Apple HK has used all these years.

Re: Apple Store Confirms in Hong Kong [Updated]

Seems like the two proposed locations can be ready for this year. Which one will be first? We know that the one in IFC is not the most suitable compared to other Apple stores round the globe but is a good location, well connected.

I am also thinking that the chance to open a Apple store in Kowloon side, like in Canton Road would be good location and attracting more people. So you can satisfy more people at the same time and they dont need to move especially to the island.

Just wait and see.

Re: Apple Store Confirms in Hong Kong [Updated]

Finding a decent street-level location in Hong Kong that would reflect Apple's need to "show off" is next to impossible IMHO. I've also heard rumors that Apple would open a place in IFC, and even that IFC were offering Apple a location 'rent free', because a decent sized Apple Store would be an anchor tenant that would draw in large numbers of other retailers (and customers!)

My guess is that the Oroton location is being taken by one of Apple's authorised retailers -- maybe Designer Group is moving there, or another is moving in? Not Apple themselves... it just seems too small a location to me.

Re: Review: Localscope for iPhone [Updated]

I got it when it's free few days ago!
