Fifty Miles Into The Main - Lost Colony Song
http://www.ravenboymusic.com/ - Song about the Lost Colony of Roanoke written by Ken Theriot and Lisa Theriot, copyright Raven Boy Music, ASCAP, 2007. The song is from Ken Theriot's album, Human History, and puts forward a possible solution fo the mystery of where the lost colonists went when they left the site where they were dropped off in 1587. John White told them to travel up the Chowan river to a place "fifty miles into the main," where the natives were friendlier and the food more plentiful.

Hidden Noise Reduction Tool in Reaper
http://www.homebrewaudio.com/?p=9603 - Reaper audio recording software is awesome, and is what I recommend to everyone. I use it every day. And I also seem to learn something new about it every day. It has an incredible noise reduction tool built right in that I just discovered recently. The reason I didn't know about it sooner is primarily due to the fact that reducing recorded noise is not its only or primary function. It just happens to do it REALLY well, and non-destructively (if that's not a word already, I hereby create it). The tool is called ReaFIR. I know! Who'd have thought to look for noise reduction editing chops under a moniker like that? Anyway, come check out the article that goes along with this video at Home Brew Audio. Also, there are tons of articles and videos to teach you how to set up a pro home recording studio with just a regular computer.

Review of The Audio-Technica AT2035 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone
http://www.homebrewaudio.com/review-of-the-audio-technica-at2035-microphone/ - Here is a new review of the large diaphragm condenser mic called the AT2035, by Audio-Technica. to really step up the quality of your audio firmly into the professional zone, you need to have a large diaphragm condenser microphone (sometimes called an LDC mic), especially if you will be recording voices, both for music and for voice over purposes. Audio-Technica is a respected manufacturer of good quality mics, and if you can only afford to spend less than $100 on one of these types of mics, you can grab their AT2020 for about $65 (really good price for a mic like this). But if you can afford to spring for the extra 85 dollars or so, I highly recommend going with the AT2035, costing $149. It is quieter, more sensitive, and gets better low-frequency response than the AT2020, plus it comes with a shock-mount and has switches for rolling off low frequencies (a high-pass filter at 80Hz) and lowering the output by 10dB with a pad switch. Check out the review, which also has some audio samples in a mini-shoot-out with the Rode NT2-A.

Connect Your Microphone To Your Camcorder - Review of BeachTek DXA-2T
http://www.homebrewaudio.com/pro-audio-for-your-video-review-of-the-beachtek-dxa-2t-camcorder-adapter - Microphone to camcorder - Here is a review of the BeachTek DXA-2T. One of the biggest frustrations I have with making professional video with a camcorder (it IS possible these days) is getting the audio to sound good. All too often I see people putting out videos that look great and sound terrible. The first thing I always recommend is to try your hardest to buy a camcorder that has an external microphone input. But even then, the plug is going to be a "mini" plug that no regular microphone will fit without multiple adapters. People either end up buying special cameral mics, like shotgun mics or wireless systems that already have the mini-plug. But that can get expensive, and then you are stuck with mics that only work on your camera. But what if you already have microphones that you use for good audio stuff? Isn't it frustrating that you can't (easily) hook those up to your camera? Well now you can. There's a really cool little box that hooks up underneath your camera and then connects easily to an tripod, that you can plug XLR (standard microphone) cables directly into.

Cover of "That Thing You Do!" - Record a Song on Your Computer
http://www.homebrewaudio.com/cover-of-that-thing-you-do-record-a-rock-song-on-your-computer - This 1-man band recording of the Adam Schlesinger song "That Thing You Do!" from the movie of the same name. I used a Carvin DC200 guitar played through a Line 6 TonePort DI using PODFarm amp models. I used Reaper to record it all. The drums were samples from StormDrum played by a MIDI track I programmed. The bass was a Samick. Vocals went through a Rode NT2-A mic into an E-MU 1820m interface. The video (since so many people ask:)) was done using Sony Vegas Pro 9. I used masking and compositing to get all version of me onto one screen. Each of those is its own video track individually lined up with the audio track.

Review of AmpliTube iRig
http://www.homebrewaudio.com/amplitube-irig-by-ik-multimedia - The AmpliTube iRig is a professional sounding guitar amplifier that will fit inside your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad. For $39.99 you can hook up your guitar to your iOS device and practice, record, or play live with basically the same amount of gear (namely an amplifier with 3 stomp-box effects) I used all through my rock band years by starting out with AmpliTube Free guitar amp modeling software.
