HTC Endeavour to be shown off at MWC 2012?
HTC has been taking the first part of its slogan pretty seriously of late by being quiet more than brilliant, but we’re pretty sure it will have something to amaze us in a few weeks time at MWC 2012. The Taiwanese company is rumored to have the device that might just steal the show. Called the HTC Endeavour, it is supposed to feature a 4.7″ display with 720p HD resolution, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, an 8-megapixel camera, and of course a quad-core Tegra 3 processor from NVIDIA.
Sounds like a nice large phone that Android users might be looking for especially if they liked the HTC TITAN, but wished that it had better specs and ran on Android instead of Windows Phone. Definitely something to look forward to in the coming weeks, stay tuned.

World of Warcraft recreated in Minecraft
If you’ve always wondered what World of Warcraft would look like if it was an 8-bit game, you don’t have to wonder anymore. A Minecraft player who goes by the name of “Rumsey” is attempting to create a replica of Azeroth (the World of Warcraft) in the correct scale in Minecraft. So far he’s managed to successfully recreate Kalimdor, one of the continents in the game. While it wasn’t done manually (he developed a program to help him do the job automatically) it isn’t any less impressive.
This is only the beginning as Rumsey plans to recreate everything in Minecraft, including all the continents and dungeons found in World of Warcraft. Talk about ambitious! When the world is completed, he plans to put it online so other people can come in the world and have fun as well. Let’s hope Blizzard won’t give him any trouble for doing so. Imagine if people quit World of Warcraft to immerse themselves in Minecraft World of Warcraft instead?
Head here for more images and to keep up with the project.

CIA website hacked by Anonymous
Another week, another site take down byAnonymous; and today, the group decided to pull off another huge hit. According to an announcement posted by the hacktivist group on Twitter it claims responsibility for hacking the website of the Central Intelligence Agency of the United States. Sure enough, at this time of writing the website for the CIA (cia.gov) isn’t responding hours after the attacks were reported.
The taking down of the CIA website is part of its ongoing F***FBIFriday campaign: a series of attacks by Anonymous against US law enforcement agencies and copyright holders, in retaliation for a raid on Megaupload. Previous targets have included the US Department of Homeland Security and the FBI. This latest attack goes to show that not even the websites of such agencies are safe from hackers who “do it for the lulz”. I wonder who’s next on their hit list?

Steam transaction backup file possibly stolen
Last year in November, it was reported that Steam’s forums were hacked and a database of encrypted information might have been compromised. That was then, and earlier today, Steam’s Gabe Newell gave another announcement about the situation. Apparently the data that was possibly compromised is a backup of transactions that happened between 2004 and 2008. So for those of you who didn’t use Steam back then, you should be safe.
Regardless of whether you used Steam back then or not, it’s a good idea for all Steam users to just keep an eye out on their credit card activity and statements since Steam can’t confirm if anything was stolen, who knows what the hackers could have taken? Using Steam Guard wouldn’t be a bad idea either; keep your eyes peeled.

Redesigned MacBook Pros to disrupt the notebook market?
Whether you’re a fan of Macs or not, there’s no doubt that Apple made a significant impact in the world of mobile computing when it released the MacBook Air. Premium, ultrathin notebooks that could perform well and last long longer than a couple of hours unplugged weren’t exactly common back then. The MacBook Air set the benchmark for what would become known as ultrabooks now. Well, if rumors prove to be true, Apple are about to do the same thing again with their new MacBook Pro notebooks.
According to AppleInsider’s sources, Apple plans to give their MacBook Pros a total overhaul with a MacBook Air treatment. The upcoming MacBook Pro notebooks are said to resemble the MacBook Air more than their current iterations. Apple is said to be revamping its 15″ lineup first and then its 17″ lineup shortly after. Can Apple create thinner and more powerful MacBook Pros while keeping them at the same price point as the current models? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. But if Apple does manage to pull it off, PC notebook manufacturers have got some serious competition on their hands.

Ubergizmo, now on Yahoo Livestand

Starting from today, you can follow Ubergizmo as a ”publication” on Yahoo Livestand, a beautifully designed “digital living magazine” from Yahoo (it’s a free app). And we could not be happier with how things came out: the framework of Yahoo Livestand has allowed us to build a custom design exactly the way we envisioned it, and wherever we could not customize it, the generic layout and typography are great, so transition is seamless. Publications have a better user experience than Yahoo Livestand “topics”, which are closer to a plain RSS feed reader.
Yahoo Livestand is currently available only for iPad. If you want to download it, here is the Livestand AppStore link. If you want to learn more about this digital magazine, go to the Livestand home page.
To find Ubergizmo, head to the Technology section, which is sorted by alphabetical order, and scroll to the “U” section. Look at the photos and let us know what you think!

DONKEY.BAS now on iOS
If you had a PC-DOS computer back in the 1980s you’d probably remember DONKEY.BAS. It is a game written in BASIC and was included with early versions of the PC-DOS operating system. In case it doesn’t ring a bell, the screenshot on the right should jog some memories. What’s interesting about the game that not many people know is that it was co-written by Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft. Regardless of whether it was part of your history or not, you and today’s generation will get the chance to enjoy DONKEY.BAS once again thanks to XVision.
The developers recently ported the game over to the iOS platform, making it available to the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Nothing has changed except how you play the game (you tap the screen instead of hitting the space bar) and it now features Game Center integration as well as the ability to unlock achievements.
If you’re keen on experiencing a slice of gaming history, head over the Apple App Store to download DONKEY.BAS now ($0.99).

Xbox 720 to have a touchscreen controller?
There isn’t going to be a new Xbox this year but that doesn’t mean rumors about it are going to stop. According to the folks at Xbox World magazine, who were informed by its sources the next Xbox “will be a matt-black media hub with a mission to bring games to life in your living room with augmented reality, directional sound, and a four-player, finger-tracking Kinect.” The magazine also claims that Microsoft is currently experimenting with a tablet-like controller that features a shape similar to the PlayStation Vita which in this case includes the touchscreen display in the middle as well (think Wii U).

Nokia Public Transport helps the clueless out
We talked about Nokia Maps Suite beta for Nokia Belle being announced yesterday, and in that suite, the Finnish smartphone company threw in Nokia Public Transport which not too many details were revealed about it. Well, it seems that Nokia has shed more light on this app, where it offers integrated and free voice guided turn-by-turn walk navigation so that you can explore cities and urban areas on foot, throwing in stuff that normally only locals know about such as shortcuts and footpaths, now how about that? However, should you decide to take the bus or tube instead, Nokia Public Transport caters to this as well, so that you can get around without missing a beat. (more…)

Samsung Galaxy Note comes in Berry Pink
The Samsung Galaxy Note resides in no (wo)man’s land in terms of it size – 5.3″ is definitely extremely generous for a smartphone, and yet it is not quite in tablet territory just yet. Well, Samsung expects the Galaxy Note to cater to those who tote their devices around in a handbag (for the ladies), as guys will proudly carry it in their hands. The ladies might feel as though the current color scheme of the Galaxy Note does not cater to their fancy, which is why the South Korea company is preparing a rather clichd shade, releasing the smartphone in “Berry Pink”. Some say it is a subtle shade of rose, instead of the Hello Kitty pink that we are used to. Do you think that a change in color would be reflected in a different price point even though everything else underneath the hood remains the same? Only time will tell, and we do look forward to seeing it arrive at the FCC soon.

Apple sues Samsung in Germany again
The long running saga of lawsuits being thrown at one another between Samsung and Apple continues, where Apple has just sued Samsung in Mannheim over a patent where a Munich court denied preliminary injunction sometime last week. Apple apparently introduced approximately 20 more new patents into its Australian litigation with Samsung, and another lawsuit against Samsung was delivered in the US in the Northern District of California, not to mention a simultaneous motion for a preliminary injunction. Apart from that, a trial in Mannheim, Germany, saw Apple emerge the victor against Motorola
