Speed Up Computer 9 Ways to Speed Up Your PC
The following article should be exactly what you have been looking for all this time.

Chances are if you have had your computer for a long time then you will start to realize that it’s not as fast as it once was. Many things contribute to the slowing down of your computer. But before you decide to buy a new computer, here are 9 ways to get your computer up to speed.

1. Install Virus Protection

This is a no brainer. Running your computer without an Anti-Virus protection is like a death-wish for computer. Viruses are not only known to significantly slow down your computer, but can also retrieve your most personal information. How can viruses slow down your computer? Some were created to eat up your computer’s memory by running large tasks in the background while the more vicious viruses could do serious damage to your computer’s operating system and could wipe out everything.

McAfee and Norton are both very reputable programs, but I would also look into AVG, as it’s the one I personally use.

Once installed make sure you run a scan of your entire computer to eliminate any unwanted viruses from your machine. This includes every single hard disk installed and not just the disk that contains your operating system (usually C: drive).

2. Run An Anti-Spyware

Spywares are notorious for slowing down your computer as well as internet connection. They too can hog up your computer’s memory resource. By running Anti-Spyware it can both speed up the computer by freeing up more memory for ready use and it can help by taking stress off of the computer’s most basic systems. Having a spyware remover will greatly improve both safety and performance in your PC.

3. Install The Latest Windows Updates

Updates are additions to software that can help prevent or fix problems, improve how your computer works, or enhance your computing experience. Security updates for Windows can help protect against new and ongoing threats to your privacy and your computer. I strongly recommend you turn on automatic updates. This feature will automatically download the latest updates and then prompt you to install them.

4. Uninstall Programs That You No Longer Use

By uninstalling programs that you no longer use, you will free up great amount of hard disk space enabling your computer to run faster. Most programs come with their own uninstall utility. Alternatively, you can un-install any programs by visiting your “Control Panel” and select “Add & Remove Programs.” Then browse through which programs you no longer use from the list and choose “un-install”.

5. Defrag Your Hard Drive

In the normal course of using a computer files and folders become fragmented on the hard drive(s). This simply means that files are not located intact in contiguous space but are spread out in bits in different areas of the hard disk. Retrieval and even saving files takes longer and in extreme cases can lead to errors. To improve performance, one should defragment drives as part of routine computer maintenance. Depending on the size of your hard disk it could take a long time to run the utility. I suggest you do this before you go to bed to let it run overnight.

6. Run a Registry Cleaner

Overtime, your Windows registry will pile up junk and is filled with invalid and obsolete keys or remnants of programs you may have uninstalled. These things can cause the startup process to be slow and could be the major cause of your computer’s poor performance.

Having a good registry cleaner will repair your Windows registry by knowing where precisely to remove those invalid keys that are left behind or added from spywares and viruses.

7. Clear Your Internet Cache

The purpose of internet cache is to enhance your browsing speeds. With this cache, your browser will no longer have to download each visit, because they are already on the hard disk. These cached files therefore accelerate navigation (especially if you visit several times the same page). However, storage of cached files take up space on your disk. Sometimes it could contain harmful virus. Thus, you should clear your internet cache.

8. Upgrade Your RAM For Your Computer

This one requires hardware change so you may need to have a computer technician install it for you. Technology changes so rapidly especially in the PC world. New programs and games require additional memory speed in order to run them. It used to be that 512MB of RAM was good. Today, anything less than 2GB of RAM is frowned upon.

9. Reformat and Reinstall Your Operating System

This would be the last resort, but it is also my favorite way to speed up your computer. Yes, it can be very time consuming. First you would need to back up all of your data on an external drive or it could be on the same hard disk if it was partitioned into 2 separate drives. Just don’t copy it onto your C: drive as usually it’s the drive that contains your operating system and it will be wiped out when you reinstall the OS.

If you have done the previous 8 steps and still not see a boost in your computer’s performance then this last step will definitely make you see the light. Of course, this is given that you must install the same version of your operating system. By that I mean if you bought your computer and it comes with Windows XP then reinstall it with Windows XP. This is because your PC’s specs was designed and configured to run XP at the time of your purchased. But if you try and upgrade your operating system to Windows Vista then you’re asking for trouble. Not only will it be slower, but your computer’s hardware may not be compatible with Windows Vista. Just stick to whatever operating system that your PC originally came with and reinstall it. Again, you may need to have a computer technician or a friend that knows how to.

Speed Up Your Computer Speed Up Your PC and Fix Errors
You don’t need to look any further. The information that you have been looking for is right here in this article.

There are various ways to speed up your computer. The first step is to free up disk space in your PC. This step give more space for your programs to run as you delete downloaded program files, temporary internet files, files stored in the recycled bin, other Windows optional components or even unused programs in your PC. By freeing some disk space, you can speed up your PC and fix errors.

The second of the ways to speed up your computer is to speed up the access to data by defragmenting your files that are in your PC. By defragmentation and using effective defragmenting utilities, you can speed up your PC and fix errors.

Also, detecting and repairing disk errors is the third of these ways to speed up your computer. It is most important since scanning enables your PC to mark bad sectors that gives you difficulty in saving retrieving files on your disk. Marking these sectors is a must to avoid writing to these areas again. Thus, with this, you can speed up your PC and fix errors.

Answer
I wouldn’t use it, it’s sketchy at best. If you want a registry cleaner, use CCleaner or Advanced System Care. But, be warned, they will NOT speed up your pc. They will clean up broken, useless, temporary, junk files though.

Remove Malware Defense From Your Computer
You don’t need to look any further. The information that you have been looking for is right here in this article.

Getting a malware alert on your personal computer does not always mean that your system is infected. It can be caused by malware defense which is an anti-spyware software only that it is not a true anti-spyware, it is a fake. It is created by the many malware and virus websites that are on the internet. This malware infection is very similar to a Trojan virus and is a variation of an anti malware program. Once it gains access to your computer, it will perform a fake security check of your systems automatically every time you start your windows operating system. A report that your system is infected will then be generated. You would naturally be alarmed since you are in danger of losing your files. A notification will then appear on your screen prompting you to purchase the full version of the malware program that supposedly will remove the suspected virus. But you are actually being scammed. The malware program is the actual threat, not the virus it is telling you that you have. You have to remove the malware from your computer with a malware defense removal program before it can do more damage.

Malware defense removal is an effective countermeasure against fake security reports generated by malware defense. If you have had a similar experience, never attempt to remove the files that had been reported as infected, since many of them are actually system files. If you remove them, your system will become unstable. The malware defense removal programs are effective in removing fake security alerts for your system. The removal program will help you restore security to your computer and ensure that your actual security programs are running as they should. Malware will interfere with your installed virus and spyware programs. It is vital that you remove malware defense as soon as you detect it on your machine.

There may also be other types of alerts which you may receive in order to scare you further into purchasing a full version. These are all fake alerts and should be ignored. But ignoring them does not mean that they are harmless. They can disable the firewall and antivirus software installed in your system which will open it up to more threats. Some people remove such threats by manually deleting them. But if you are not familiar with the windows registry files, you should not attempt it as it could affect your operating system. Doing it with a malware defense removal program is more effective since it will not delete files that are being used by your computer to boot up and run normally.

Malware defense is a very real threat to your computer. However, by taking the proper steps you can remove the threat and restore your computer to full health!

Can you get spyware or malware on mac without downloading anything?

Also do some sites just say that you have spyware or malware just to get you to download something? Also how can you tell if mac is infected?

Answer
“Can you get spyware or malware on mac without downloading anything?”

No, you can’t. It’s not impossible, but it is highly improbable and would have to come through an unpatched flaw in your web browser, Flash plugin, or other plugin connected to the network. If you’re really that paranoid about it, you should use Firefox with the NoScript extension and turn off all network services in OS X’s System Preferences.

Unlike Windows, Mac has proper privilege level separation. So even when you have a so-called “administrator” account, you’re still operating as a limited user almost all of the time, and you have to password-authenticate to temporarily gain root privileges to make system-wide changes.

In Windows, you’re total administrator by default. You can secure Windows by using a limited user account, but Microsoft hasn’t made it easy to operate as limited user full-time, since the “Run as…” feature is crippled in Windows.

You’ll see that almost all Mac malware either requires user intervention (trojans, for example) or an unpatched system.

It doesn’t mean Macs are invincible. It means Macs have a pretty strong default security, and it means you still shouldn’t do anything stupid.

“Also do some sites just say that you have spyware or malware just to get you to download something?”

Definitely. And, as you can see from all the Yahoo! Answers users trying to get rid of “Antivirus 360″ and “Antivirus 2009,” clearly that strategy works.

“Also how can you tell if mac is infected?”

Well, there’s no way to know 100%, just as there isn’t in Windows. Clever malware writers design malware to be undetectable and stealthy. Stupid malware writers write malware to slow down your computer or bombard it with pop-ups.

Again, if you’re really that paranoid, then reinstall OS X every week. Reinstalling is the only way to be 100% sure no malware is on your computer.

I guess it’s also possible that I and everyone I know could be struck by lightning in the next month, but I’m not going to lose any sleep over it.
