PIF 300
Wireless Dog Fence – PIF 300
In this post we’ll talk about thePIF 300 containment system for your dog. This electronic fence can keep your dog within a specific area (maximum 90 feet) without the need of a real fence or a leash. Your dog must be over 8 pounds because very little dogs might get hurt with the stimulation of the required collar. The maximum range of the central transmitter is about 90 feet and the minimum range is about 5 feet. These were calculated in a no obstacle area.
The range is considered in a radius perspective so the dog will be confined to a circular area.
This wireless fence is different from many others because it doesn’t need you to bury any wires or use stakes to plant your markers. You’ll have the fence up and running in less than an hour. The job of installing it will become easier and will start taking you a lot less than an hour to do it.
You can use this device in both indoors and outdoors. It’s great if you pretend to create an invisible containment area.
Use some stakes or flags to help your dog understand where are the area limits. But don’t overdo it, as soon as you feel he got the picture, remove those visual aids and let him run away freely (always with supervision in the first days).
This device is not perfect and neither is your dog, so don’t use this next to very busy roads because it might be dangerous. Nothing can replace a good wall when it comes to preventing “escapes”. So use always your common sense to see if your dog will be really safe using this electronic fence in that particular area. Never forget thatthis device is not perfect. The transmitter won’t grab your dog if he really decides to take off at high speed.
Use whatever you need as a visual aid. Objects on the ground, boxes, stones around the transmitter on the boundary limit. Anything can be used to help your dog understand the boundaries.
One other thing you can do, and it’s highly effective, is to use a light rope of about 32 feet (10 meters) and let the dog drag it around the containment area. If he decides to get to the boundary area and the shocks aren’t enough to stop him, or even if he doesn’t understand that the shocks mean that he must turn around, then you can simply step on the rope and he won’t runaway. Using this technique is very important in the first days your dog starts using the device. You’ll probably never need this, but just in case it’s there for using. This is a good technique to use in the first days if you live in a more busy area, with people and dogs passing by. Always have safety in mind until you’re absolutely sure your dog won’t cross the boundaries.
How is my dog stopped from running away?
Your dog will have to use a shock collar that is directly connected with your central transmitter using wireless transmission. You dog’s collar will have two contact points that will administer a correction if necessary.
Don’t worry, your dog won’t get immediate corrections, he will have an audible warning signal before he gets into the no crossing area. He will only get a correction if he insists and keeps going the wrong direction.
Will the dogs be injured by the corrections?
After everything is configured correctly you won’t have a problem with possible injuries.
The main device (transmitter) is configurable in:
- High/low switch
- Switch for turning on/off the transmitter
- Device range adjustable control
- Power indicator light
- Not waterproof, be careful when leaving your transmitter outside
Dog collar properties:
- Water resistent
- 6 volt battery allows for full wireless functioning
- Features 2 types of contact points, long and short
- A 25-second safety timeout in case dog stops at the boundary zone
- A screw-off cap covering the correction-level button
- Low battery indication through a small led in the collar
Many dogs will react differently to each level of correction. You should configure the levels of intensity according to your dog sensitivity. For example, don’t set it to a high level if you have a small dog.

How to house train my dog
Want to learn how to house train a dog?
House training your dog is an indispensable knowledge that you simply cannot overlook. Training your dog to be house proofed will take you about 7 days. This is not an accurate value of course, it will depend on yourconsistency efforts, yourdog’s breed andage.
You could be asking now, is my dog’s breed any good for house training?
If your dog is from a dominant breed, then it will probably be more difficult to train him properly. They will try to ignore their owner and will do what they want. On the other side, we can say that less dominante breeds have a tendency to please their master, therefore they are a lot easier to train. You can easily train a less dominant dog to be house trained in about 5 days. Dominant dogs are not less intelligent than less dominant dogs. That’s a bit of a common misconception. They are a lot more stubborn, but also very smart. You’ll probably take about 8 days to train your dominant dog to be house breaked.
Will it take long to house train a dog?
Your dog’s breed affects his training, but your efforts are equally important and so are your current location. If you live in a flat or house it can have a great impact on your dog’s training.
You’ll need to be at home for the nextseven days to properly train your dog. He has to be monitored at all times and you can only do that if you’re there with him. You should use the following week after you get your puppy to exclusively monitor and train him. Don’t postpone this small vacation, you should do it immediately after your puppy arrives at your house, it will be worth it. Don’t let this opportunity pass by, you should be with your dog in these first days to train him and establish a bond between you two.
What will influence my efforts of house training my dog?
Your dog’s training can be influenced by many factors, so please check the following list so you can be aware of them.
- Dog’s breed and temperament
- Dominance level of your dog. When you choose your puppie’s breed you should take this in consideration.
- Dog’s sex
- A male dog can be more difficult than a female when it comes to training. Males are usually more prone to mark their territory. And the most important territory to him will be the inside of your house.
- House type
- If you live in an apartment, things will be a little bit harder for you and your dog, nothing impossible to accomplish, but a little bit harder. Think ahead and organize your dog’s schedule to go potty outside. Remember, your dog will be with you for about 14 years, maybe more.
- When living in a house with a backyard it will be a lot easier. This way there’s not much work involved, you just let your dog go outside by opening the door to him. Nevertheless, when you don’t have a house and live in an appartment, you will be enforcing your dominance over your dog every time you go outside with him. And that’s great.
- Dog’s ascendency
- This may seem a little strange, but it will affect the training of your dog more than you probably think. A high quality breeder will never sell you a puppy with disorders or urinary diseases. Make sure your puppy comes from a good breeder, so that he has a good character and is not afraid of humans.
- Dog sterilization
- A male might lift his leg and pee your wall marking his territory and a female might pee your floor if she senses a female dog near by. Spaying or neutering will help solving this significantly.
- Dog’s age
- A puppy will learn at a very fast rate when comparing to a senior dog Health issues might have to be taken in consideration also when training a senior dog. We can’t expect to house train a senior dog properly if he has urinary problems for example. Although health issues might influence your dog’s training, usually it won’t make much difference if you have an adult or senior dog to train. A puppy might be a faster learner, but they also have some accidents due to the bladder size.
Your dog must understand that you are hisalpha leader, otherwise he will not obey you when you try to teach him the house rules. And remember that a puppy doesn’t understand any command until you teach him. Don’t trigger the puppy’s defensive behavior by showing aggressiveness to him when he pees in your house (it will happen eventually). Redirecting him is a lot more effective and positive to the dog. If you’re contradictory and unable to establish a habit, the dog will be confused and won’t be able to follow the pattern you desire.

How to train my dog
So, how to train dogs?
Like potty trainingfor dogs, dog training is something you will have to be consistent with, and starts immediately as soon as your dog begins interacting with you. Your dog training will have to be consistent from the moment your dog arrives at your home.
Correct training can only be accomplished if you master the essential training methods that will allow you to correct and redirect your dog properly.
A dog can be trained at any age, but puppies can be easier to train due to the fact that they don’t have any previous bad training.
We should always start with off-leash training, so that the dog does not associate training to a tool (leash), instead, he must associate training to ourselves (owner).
Obedience training for dogs starts with these basic methods:
- Keep it simple
- Correction, redirection, consistency and prevention should always be your groundbase to training your dog. All of this may seem a bit overwhelming at first, but it is quite easy to do it, as soon as we interiorize these simple techniques and apply them consistently.
- Trying to understand why your dog does what he does
- This guide will teach you several techniques that you can apply to your dog step-by-step, but if you understand the behaviors manifested by your dog, you can easily use that information to adapt to new situations, and even train new tricks to your dog or predict and avoid bad situations (prevention).
- If a command is given, he must comply.
- When a dog receives a command to perform and he backs away and doesn’t do it, then he is challenging you. You cannot let your dog do what he wants. If he must do something, you must make him do it even if he doesn’t want to (use common sense here please). If by any chance you’re in a situation in which you cannot “force” your dog to comply, then don’t give him any order.
- When you’re not consistent in your dog’s training, it’s like saying to him…”Ok, you can obey sometimes only”
- This is of utmost importance. Give behaviors one meaning only. Good or bad, not “sometimes it’s ok”. Don’t let your dog bark at the neighbors dog just because he is annoying. You won’t like that when you’re out for a walk with your dog and he starts barking at everything he sees. He won’t see the difference between situations, and will become nervous and unstable because he won’t know what to do.
- Another example is when you give your dog an old shoe to play, and later you realize that he has eaten your shoes collection. This happens more than often, and must be avoided at all costs. Remember, a shoe is a shoe, so be consistent and don’t allow to chew “some” shoes, because your dog won’t tell the difference.
- Don’t allow for too many people interfere in your dog’s training. Consistency is the key, and the more people interfere the less consistent your training will be. If you have a big family, you must educate the members of your family, on what is allowed the dog to do, and what is not allowed. All rules should be followed by your family in the same way. Training will take more time if children interact with the dog in a daily basis. You should be aware of that because it’s harder to get consistency.
- It’s difficult to stress out how important it really is to be consistent.
- This is easier to introduce to your dog when he’s still a puppy and in an off-leash situation, when you let him run around the house freely (almost). Don’t worry about your dog becoming too much of a robot due to so much consistency. It won’t happen, and your dog will get better and better at everyday’s training. And by the way, if your dog runs away from you and goes to a road full of cars passing by, you will want him to obey immediately.
- More consistency
- Yes, you must be consistent.
