ICANN reopens gTLD application system earlier than planned
ICANN has reopend the application system for generic Top Level Domains (gTLD) earlier than planned. The system, called TAS, was temporarily closed due to a security leak. In the TAS, current applications can be submitted.
Networking4all closed during holidays in May
Coming Thursday, the 17th of May, the world will celebrate Ascension. Like most companies and institutions, Networking4all will be closed this day too. Only in case of a very serious fault, Networking4all will be reachable by phone.
City of Amsterdam applies for gTLD .amsterdam
Since the publication of the list of applications for new gTLDs is delayed, the number of reports of companies that announce their requests are increasing. Yesterday, the City of Amsterdam announced they have applied for the extension .amsterdam.
Announcement of new gTLD applications postponed
On the 30th of April, the list of requested gTLDs should have been announced. It is now clear that the date is not met by ICANN. And it may still take 1 or 2 months before the list is known. Main culprit is a failure in the TLD Application System (TAS).

The application possibility for new generic Top Level Domains (gTLDs) at ICANN will close today (12 April, 23.59 UTC). If you still want to apply for a new TLD, you need to hurry. The number of applications is estimated around the 1500.

Registry assigned to future domain extension .africa
A registry has been selected to administer the new generic TLD .africa. The South African UniForum SA is selected by the African Union to administer the extension, which is expected to be very successful, and to offer it to the general public.

TLD Netherlands Antilles lifted, three new extensions launched
The domain extension of the Netherlands Antilles (.an) is no longer registrable since the 31st of January 2012. With the disappearance of .an, three new extensions are introduced and launched: Curaao (.cw), Saint Martin (.sx) and the BES islands (.bq).
Also .org is raising its prices for domain names
Last month we were forced to increase the reseller prices of .com, .net and .biz. Now .org announced to raise its prices. Networking4all has again decided not to adjust the retail prices, but unfortunately we do have to change our reseller rates of .org.
Registered .nl domain names towards five million
SIDN, administrator of the Dutch .nl domain, has announced its figures for 2011. These figures show that the extension reached almost five million registrations. This past year, the number of domain names has grown from 4,2 to 4,8 million.
Worldwide 220 million domain names registered
With the approaching new year, VeriSign has released a new Domain Name Industry Brief. It shows that the total number of registered domain names worldwide nearly reached the 220 million at the end of the third quarter of 2011.
French domain extensions now available for all Europeans
Since yesterday, the 6th of December, anyone with a residence in the European Union can register a .fr domain name. Previously this was reserved only for those with an address in France. This is a result of a French amendment.
General Availability phase .xxx launched today
Starting today (December 6), all interested persons can register a .xxx domain names. The General Availability phase started last night. Networking4all provides the p**nographic extension as only accredited registrar in the Netherlands.
'Wet Van Dam' makes appearance in The Netherlands on December 1

Paul van Brouwershaven leaves Networking4all after ten years as CTO
