Lego means Leg Godt combined which means in English Play well. Lego started as a wooden brick toy which then developed into plastic bricks in 1947, when Ole Kirks son Godtfred kirk became president of the company.
Godtfred Kirk had a vision to make Lego one of the most popular and in demand toys all over the world, he started introducing the Lego bricks to England, France and Germany in 1954, but in that year Godtfred was told that the toy lack in system, so he returned to Denmark and made better ideas with Lego.
After the toy fair in Germany in 1959, it was then the Lego was introduced to Europe, and in 1980 the Educational Products Department approved Lego to be an educational toy for all ages. After years of great success in Introducing Lego to thee world, Lego continues to grow and became one of the largest toy factory in Europe.
The big break of Lego was in 1990 where Lego has established 10 large Lego factory and not only in Europe but in USA and Japan as well. In 2003 the Lego Company finally made a decision to make an amusement park for kids who love Lego and called it Legoland which is also located where Lego started, precisely in Billund, Denmark. In Legoland you will find miniature designs of Billund, you will find many more figures from cartoon characters and Hans Christians Andersens fairytale stories.
You will find rides and many other exciting tours around the Legoland, Lego land has become one of the most visited destinations in summer seasons for most families from Denmark and from other countries as well.
Lego is not only a toy it is also educational for kids as well as for adults.
