Agoraphobia And Panic Attacks
Agoraphobia is a type of phobia that is linked to the experience of anxiety attacks. It is the fear of open spaces or of being in a public and crowded area such as a busy mall or a train station. It is typically associated with leaving a place considered as a safe zone area, such as your home.
The deep feeling of vulnerability one experiences when going through this fear often suffers from panic attacks when exposed to these open situations. The degrees of fear experienced by people who have regular anxiety attacks will vary in intensity. From a lingering fear about being away from a safe zone to a completely immobilizing fear that will prevent one from leaving home even for short periods of time.
The prevailing thought behind agoraphobia is the intense fear that should a panic attack happen, there would be no help or assistance available for that person.
