Like many others, the call of Tumblr finally got through to me, and I've been spending more and more time there and less here unfortunately.
I started to find LJ a little slow and dull, most of the communities that initially caused me to sign up and create a journal in the first place are no longer very active, or in some cases, my interests have just changed. Simple as that.
I'm still keeping this journal, however! And will still be reading my friends list ♥
The REAL reason I'm posting though is...
Is anyone else here on Tumblr?? Please post your name and I'd love to follow you. I'm just starting out and I'd love to have some friends over there!

hello internet
Well, I've been on a bit of a hiatus the last few months.
Apologies to all and to myself. I let me down. Just couldn't bear to sit down and write something. I realised today, however, that I'm in danger of losing this journal if I don't update (some new LJ rule, right? going through and deleting unused journals?).
And I still very much enjoy reading friends' entries and being a part of online communities
I have a back-log of things I wish to mention and post:
1. a) JASON MOTHEREFFING SCHWARTZMAN. I LOVE THIS MAN. HE IS PERFECT. MARRY ME.
b) I have not yet seen Scott Pilgrim Vs The World. Am doing so tomorrow - SO f**kING EXCITED. I know I'm gonna love it... that cast + Edgar Wright directing?? SO IN.
2. Inception. Was clearly awesome. Loved it. Christopher Nolan continues to be one of my favourite directors (along with Edgar Wright, actually...)
3. LISTEN TO ROBYN. She makes absolutely perfect pop music! Here's "Hang With Me" uploaded on Mediafire - LISTEN! AND DANCE!!
4. The Arcade Fire's new album The Suburbs ... fantastic piece of work. Do yourself a favour and buy it!
5. I SAW THE BLACK KEYS LIVE. AKA I SAW THE GREATEST LIVE BAND LIVE. I have never sweat so much in my life. Seriously, it was a total sweat-fest but seeing them was worth every drop. So much love

I... think that's it? Can't think of more right now. Maybe the bottle of wine I'm ingesting right now is affecting me, who knows. GOODNIGHT.
oh, Losty.
EVERY LOST FAN SHOULD WATCH THIS. All those unanswered questions still bothering you?? Well, this doesn't answer any of them! But it's still quite entertaining!
Hey, guys. So....
Lost is ending tonight.
End of an era! And certainly the end of my favourite show for the last six years.

*wibble*
need some new icons up in here
Robert Downey Jr on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson....
!!!
Too much charm and charisma to handle, you guyz. TOO MUCH.
PS: Saw Iron Man 2. Liked it.
PPS: Is anyone else out there watching Parks and Recreation? I don't know many others who are watching it and I'm worried it'll get cancelled or something! GUYS. WATCH IT. No, seriously. It's awesome. If, for nothing else, watch for this cutie right here. (His name is Chris Pratt, hello new crush!)
PPPS: I'm still watching Lost and The Office, my old favs, just not writing about them week to week anymore. Reason being, for Lost, there's not point, as I never have any clue what's going on anyway, and for The Office, it isn't as good anymore :(
PPPPS: This Crystal Castles song is f**king great!
so, hey.
This article from The Onion is brilliant, and so funny if you are familiar with hipster-favourite music website Pitchfork.... Headline: "Pitchfork Gives Music 6.8"
Oh yeah, and I'M FINISHED MY SEMESTER! PASSED MY EXAMS! Haven't got all my marks yet, but my highest grade so far is a 93 in my Documentary Film course. HUZZAH!

Okay, that's all. Gonna go watch The Ricky Gervais Show now! ♥
Still alive.
Just in school. So, actually... maybe not alive. (Dramatic.) Just so drained I can't be bothered to write anything personal! But I took a loing, satisfying nap this afternoon so the urge has seized me.
+ Olympics happened here in Canada in February, several weeks ago. That was fun. I have an inkling that it wasn't as fun for anyone else other than Canadians, but I'm perfectly okay with that. How often do we get such a huge focus on us? Answer: never. So it was fun while it lasted.
Plus, I'm one of those "every four years" figure skating and hockey fans, so I enjoyed Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir winning gold in Ice Dancing and Team Canada winning GOOOOLD in both men's and women's hockey. Those were fantastic moments, ones I'll never forget.
I'm not a patriotic person, really. But it felt nice to feel pride for my country which is often overlooked and underestimated.
+ EVERYONE SEE A SINGLE MAN. Possibly my favourite film of last year (competing with Bright Star and Fantastic Mr. Fox, which btw has been WAY underrated!). Colin Firth is absolutely amazing, so heart-breaking and beautiful. I seriously loved this film, so much so I wanted to watch it again almost immediately after it ended.
+ Songs that keep me happy these days:
Spanish Sahara -- Foals Reptilia & Heart in a Cage -- The Strokes Good Intentions Paving Company -- Joanna Newsom Rules Don't Stop -- We Are Scientists Anchorage -- Surfer Blood
+ Phoenix's song Lisztomania sung by a school choir of fifth graders... This is gorgeous, and so lovely to see kids enjoying singing so much. It's obvious what a difference it makes when you have a dedicated and talented music teacher!
ok byeeeeee
I'm sitting here listening to Hot Chip, eating chocolate, and making gifs at Gifsoup when I should be working on a paper due tomorrow. NOT GOOD. Plus, I just realised I have to sign up for the "Premium" account if I want to save and use them! I made good ones too... :( Good grief. (Anyone know another (free) website I can use to make gifs?)
Also: my friend finally got me to see Avatar with him... Verdict: "Eh."
That is all.
using my Conan icon! Go eff yourselves, NBC.
Two completely separate but equally amazing videos/songs I've been watching repeatedly recently:
This is a beautiful version of one of my favourite Coldplay songs (A Message). I think it sounds gorgeous and love the sight of them all strumming away on guitars. Love
And, then... THIS. I can't even describe what's going on here but it's a lot of fun and A LOT of awesome:
la la la la la.. la la la la... la la la la la la la laaaa
!!!!!!
This is so good! This is why you're my favourite, Death Cab! Taking awesome 80s anthems and making them into awesome moody indie rock! Bonus: Paul McCartney approves!!
So, THE CRIBS. Saw them play last Friday night! Had a great time, except for being constantly annoyed by all the old white guys standing around, clearly just there to see Johnny Marr (the guitar-God from The Smiths currently providing some sweet sweet guitar work with this band.)
"Our Bovine Public"
"Hey Scenesters"
"Mirror Kissers"

Good times! They didn't talk much, and if they did, it was Ryan Jarmin (his twin brother Gary also sings but apparently doesn't talk) who did. Johnny didn't say anything but he's so f**king cool he didn't have to. I think Ryan's adorable (HIS ACCENT!) sooooo that's him in most of the photos.
Plus the venue, by complete lucky coincidence, was just around the corner from my sister's apartment! 5 minute away, seriously. We made a pack to see more shows there.
We might go see the electronica/dance group Miike Snow in a couple of months! Might be a lot of fun.
um, WHAT?
From here:
Robert Zemeckis finds Beatles for 'Yellow Submarine'
It's "all together now" for the cast of Robert Zemeckis' upcoming Beatles feature.Cary Elwes, Dean Lennox Kelly, Peter Serafinowicz and Adam Campbell are in negotiations to portray the members of the band in "Yellow Submarine," which the director is remaking for Disney. The original 1968 animated movie was based on the music by the Beatles and featured a storyline wherein a soldier called Old Fred meets up with the Beatles and travels in a yellow submersible to Pepperland. Among the group's encounters are the music-hating Blue Meanies. As with his recently released "A Christmas Carol," Zemeckis is making the movie using 3D performance-capture technology. The helmer, who also wrote the screenplay, is producing with his Imagemovers Digital partners Jack Rapke and Steve Starkey. The Beatles tribute band the Fab Four will be motion-captured as the ensemble for the musical performance sequences though -- since actual Beatles music will be utilized (licensed from Sony/ATV and EMI-Capitol Records) -- they won't actually be performing the 16 songs used in the movie. ....WHAT?!
Robert Zemeckis? Live action?? Disney?? 3D??
...But.... WHY? It's almost laughable how annoying and unnecessary this is. DON'T REMAKE A CLASSIC, BROS. I really don't think anyone will benefit from a new version. This is just someone's idea of cashing in on the renewed Beatlemania (what with the new remastered albums and Beatles: Rockband). Grr.
Plus there's been a ton of news lately about Conan O'Brien and the possible late-night time-slot switch up. HE BETTER NOT LEAVE, is all I'm saying. Seriously, 'cause then there'd only be Leno and Fallon AND THAT IS NO FUN AT ALL. Good grief, NBC have really f**ked things up for themselves. Don't go, Conebone!!!
My new name is Jethro Q. Walrustitty.
Starting classes tomorrow... TRYING TO STAY OPTIMISTIC. IT IS NOT EASY. I'm a pessimistic person. But I'm trying. (Wow, apparently I can only write in fragmented sentences today.)
I've been avoiding thinking about anything of importance these past few days by watching the entire Monty Python Flying Circus series (I'm almost done season three right now). I also found a torrent download of ALL THEIR MOVIES plus a live show and a few hard-to-find tv specials. THANK YOU, INTERNET. I LOVE YOU.
Of course, I've watched the Monty Python & The Holy Grail film since I was a kid, and can quote my favourite parts word-for-word. So I'm almost mad at myself for not watching the show sooner! I mean, DUH, of course I f**king love it! Ah well, I suppose everything has it's right time. And frankly, I'm grateful to have such a wonderful distraction right now.
"Well, there isn't a swing... how about the swong?!" (Also, I teared up from laughing so hard at 3:35... it's brilliant!)
Alright, dinnertime. Have a good night all
TEGAN I LOVE YOUUUUUUU

(from their blog)
DH!!!!!!
First Deathly Hallows teaser trailer!!!
Dh Preview One - A funny movie is a click away

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
(I think it's too little footage shown to form much of an opinion just yet! But this most definately teases, does it not?!)
ETA: The video's been removed and I can't find it anywhere else! DAMN.
oh, please take my heart and keep it close to you
Did anyone ever watch the Mystery Science Theater 3000 show? You know, the one where the guy and the two robots make fun of cheesy old B-movies?
Well, those guys moved onto mainstream films and their commentaries are extremely entertaining. They call it "Rifftrax" (visit the website!) and they actually made Twilight bearable! Not just bearable, but funny! And not in an unintentional way.
I couldn't find a best-of video of it on Youtube, but their Rifftrax of the newest Star Trek movie is also fantastic! Check it out if you can.
Other goodies:
Tegan and Sara playing "The Cure" acoustic
Death Cab playing new song "Meet Me on the Equinox" on Kimmel
Simon Pegg and Noel Fielding on cute British talk show! Be still, my heart.
Look At This f**king Hipster. I looooooove this website.
f**k You, Penguin
Well, I'm off to watch the Rifftrax version of "The Empire Strikes Back", should be good!
I really wish I had computer skills. Or Photoshop. I wish I had that. Grr.
Maybe someone can point me in the direction of a tutorial? I'm looking to make a header for my journal, using one particular photo. LJ doesn't provide NICE layouts, and I'm sick of it. I want to make my own! And this website isn't particularly helpful in that aspect.
Is it possible to put a photo and some text up there without Photoshop?
For your time, have a little Ewan McGregor:
Movies I've seen in the last few months, but haven't remembered to mention:
- Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs Really funny! Written by the guys who did Clone High, one of my all-time favourite cartoons. With Bill Hader! HADER! He can do no wrong.
- Bright Star So beautiful! Achingly so. About the poet John Keats and the woman, Fanny, he loved. More about Fanny, which was interesting. One of the most romantic movies I've seen, quite lovely. I felt emotionally wrecked afterwards.
- 500 Days of Summer Love the pairing of Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel and the unconventional narrative. Nice to see a romantic comedy where they DON'T end up together. Because life's like that. Cute and also good soundtrack!
- Away We Go Just watched this on DVD tonight. How f**king SWEET, wow! Loved the story and the music and Maya Rudolph and John Krasinskaaaaay were so lovely together. I had a little tear of happiness at the end.
I feel like I'm missing some, but I'm tired and the brain's not up to speed tonight.
Oh! I saw Kings of Leon in concert like ... 3 weeks ago? Never got around to writing about it but it was a great show! Pretty by-the-numbers, (probably because it was their 129,962,550th show) but they sounded great and lead singer Caleb was cute and very gracious and charming. I definitely had a good time.
I can think of no more... bedtime!
"These words get overused... When we get up and over it and over them..."
So, my cell phone fell out of my pocket last night and then stayed on the ground in front of my apartment for an hour and a half in the rain. I thought for sure it was dead but I tried that old "bowl of rice" trick AND IT ACTUALLY WORKED. You know the one... pop the battery out then cover both that and the phone in dry rice overnight. Crazy that it works.
In follow-up to my Mighty Boosh obsession, I moved onto Never Mind the Buzzcocks (with Simon Amstell as host) which I quickly devoured in a few days. So sad he's not hosting anymore! But I love Noel Fielding as a regular part of the new series now.
Then I discovered The IT Crowd, which I LOVE! Great writing and a great cast. Already went through all three series (why must there only be 6 episodes each time??).
I LOVE BRITISH COMEDY SO DAMN MUCH. So much, in fact, that I am losing what already-little interest I had in American shows... Uh oh.
Any Tegan and Sara fans out there? Their new single "Hell" is fantastic, from their upcoming album which is released in a couple of weeks. Listen to it here! Love the fast-paced beat and the chorus is ridiculously catchy. "I KNOW YOU FEEL IT TOOOO..."
Oooh, The Office! JIM AND PAM'S WEDDING TONIGHT! Hour-long episode, woo hoo!
Also, this:
is so f**king funny and a reminder to all why Youtube needs to exist.
Wow, I haven't posted in a while. In the three weeks since my last, I've fallen in love The Mighty Boosh. Noel! Julian! A journey through time and space! I fell head-over-heels for them and then hated myself for not finding them earlier. They're hilarious and so effing charming together. I even downloaded their live show! I WANT A NEW SERIES.

Currently, I've even-more-obsessing over The Arctic Monkeys. Yes, I know, they've ALSO been around for several years, but for whatever reason, I just never really listened to them. Their new album "Humbug" really caught my attention; I really love it! Then I went backwards from there. And seriously, their first album really is as good as everyone said it was. "Still Take You Home" f**king kicks ass. Ooh! Then I found a torrent download of their 2007 Glastonbury set. SO. GOOD.
I think I've become jealous of England with their fantastic tv shows and comedians and musicians. I TOTALLY HAVE. Please make me an honourary Brit! Please!
