Long time, no see.
It's been a long time since I've picked up a camera or done any photo editing. I may be a little rusty, but I thought this one came out half-decent. Let me know what you all think.

Pre-Spring Cleaning 2012
Hey folks!

So I decided to move some things around my apartment last weekend, mostly ue to the fact that I was getting sick of my old set-up. Holy f**k, I never realized how filthy shit got when you left it alone. Upon moving furniture and getting to the vacuum, I found about two bags worth of garbage lying around (not uber-gross garbage, but the cast off of things from items and objects not used). I didn't capture the bags, unfortunately, but I think I got some good shots of the close-to-finished job. Hope y'all enjoy!

January in Florida is not nearly as bad as other places I assume :) I took some pictures in my backyard the other day because it was so nice out!

Here are some screen-shots from my latest video. I took this video earlier today and I still smell like the flowery body wash I used :)

Happy New Year, fellow subjects
I apologize for the lateness of wishing you all a very happy new year. And my apologies for not wishing you happy holidays during the magical time that is the month of December. I assure you, if I were not busy living like so I can have crazy stories when I'm old, I would have done so at the appropriate time.

So another year comes, another year goes. Our little community, though anemic in participation, continues to live. These be trying times, since equivalent communities, like [info]selfportraits seem to be thriving. It seems that we have lost focus in our wee little space, here. Yes, we used to get our jollies by looking at super sexy young people get down to their skivvies, and show delicious curves, nips, booty and the occasional spreading of lips or sack. Surely these were the glory days, and then came the time of the decline. Membership seemed to have thinned out. Participation came to a screeching halt. Posts became fewer and fewer. Some of us had made good efforts to liven things up, but it seems that we can only do so much.

So I think we should start small. Let's just see about encouraging people to post. And since it seems like most of y'all are only motivated by the nudity of sexy ladies (for shame!), mebbe some of our sexier members can start bartering with the more passive element of our members. Maybe for five-seven posts from those who've never posted before, the lot of you can get a pic that escalates in sexiness? I'm mostly just spitballing here, and I'm totally up for suggestions, so send messages my way. And for those of you who like looking at more masculine things, maybe you should speak up! Some encouragement, or posts to solicit photos would be ideal.

Let us try to remember that this is a digital space for self expression, and that there is something to get from sharing the way we capture moments in our lives. There's something magnificent about the camera, in that it can really capture a stirring image, that resonates deep from within us, and yet only reflect a singular moment from a singular angle, which is but a sliver of our singular perception of the world.

With that in mind, I hope all of you have an amazing year, and good luck to all. To show that this is not just me being preachy, here's me fooling around with one of them nifty photo apps on the good ol' Android.

PEACE, Y'ALL.

Don't know if I posted this before or not.

Another picture to kinda liven up a dying community.. no nudity though :(
Sorry, not much flesh but this community has been on it's way out for a while anyway.. so I pose the question, what do guys really think of feather earrings? They are the new thing now? I have to write an article about them for a website.

Here's my version. I posted one a few back.

Yeah, sorry not too made up, got massive amount of hair to put up to show off the earrings, yadda yadda yadda.. (do they even say that anymore?)

Thoughts?

Sorry, it's not sexy, but damn.. can't look away from that. It's like you can't look away from a car accident. Or someone with their underwear showing.

I broke my humerus bone. And yes, I know the whole joke.. my funny bone and it wasn't funny. I have a steel plate in my left arm with screws. Beat that b***hES. I am one tough M.F*ucker. I tell everyone that sees my scar that I was running from a gang fight.

The truth. I was drunk and fell out on the car. I blame it on my damn shoes.

I am the damn bionic woman.

Happy Halloween b***hes! - Edited
I can't find my phone.

I can't find my damn cat ears.

Happy f**king Halloween.

and I don't even have a damn boyfriend to b***h at. At least I have House MD to watch.

Thanks to everyone for voting
So at this point, it should be clear that the results are in, and the vote has yielded a resounding Yes.

See for yourself here.

However, I am inclined to have some discussion on the results, and I would like to see how members feel about the possibility of the community being opened up.  I know that posting has been stagnant as of late, and I know that there is a demand for better access, but I want to offer legitimate opportunities to hear alternatives, and give credence to the concerns of bot-invasions and the like.

So please, share your thoughts.

Also, as an aside, I totally wrote a song, and recorded video for all of y'all, but I can't see to find an editing program that allows me to do split screen.  If anyone knows of a kick-ass freeware alternative to Final Cut Pro (or have a copy of FCpro for windows 7), please let me know.

Cheers, folks!

THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK, THUS FAR!!!
I'm really liking all the feedback.  It shows that people still care about this little community of ours.

If you haven't voted, please do so.  If you want to leave your thoughts in the comments, please feel free to.

I want to thank everyone for visiting and posting still.

QUESTION FOR MEMBERS
So as many of you can observe, the posting rate of this community is in decline. We can debate the merits of why that is, but suffice it to say, it is quite noticeable. I have been thinking about how to increase participation, but like with all things stagnant, nothing quite fights inertia like new blood. The issue, however, is that facilitating new blood is quite problematic when we have a barrier set up.

Due to our initial reaction to the implementation of LiveJournal's Age policy, in regards towards screening for adult participation, we underwent a thorough process of eliminating all under-aged or uncertain LJ peeps from the community, in order to avoid facilitating possible marketing or pandering to underaged users. Some may not recall, but we had a situation where a 16-year old was posting photos, and users were actively soliciting her to submit nude pictures. CLEARLY A NO-NO. So we made sure that all people who didn't belong were booted, and those who wanted to participant clearly abide by our requirements, per LiveJournal's conditions and terms of use.

Some years have past, and many of our more devoted users have left. Management has changed. And quite frankly, LiveJournal went from being a premier social-networking hub to being secondary (and possibly tertiary) on the scape of orders of online social networking. A lot of it has to do with the nature of social media, and the evolving nature of sharing information. Indeed, the narratives that intrigued everyone into making online connections have shifted from the words we write to the statuses we leave, the photos we upload, and the places we check into. Fortunately, LJ seems to be on the ball, and is making steps to better integrate this service into other social networking portals like facebook, twitter, and application versions for iOS and Android.

While a slight tangent, it leads me to my main point: I think we need to reconsider how we filter membership. As of right now, I am rejecting all membership requests that do not include full DOB information. I get a decent amount of membership requests, but there's nothing to really encourage active participation upon gaining access to the community. So maybe what we need is to remove the barrier, provided that we ensure that this is an adult community with adult content and adult themes. If we categorize ourselves as such, my guess is that we'll have fulfilled our obligation to maintain an adult space. We are obligated to report if we get posting activity from an under-aged user, but outside of that, we'd be free to focus on restoring vibrancy to this little community here.

However, I want to get feedback. Because it is critical that things not occur unilaterally. So I have created a poll:

Poll will be open for an indeterminate amount of time, so I can evaluate feedback.  Upon conferring with the moderators, we will go about determining when to close the poll, and how to interpret the results.

Thank you all for participating, and for checking out for updates.  Stay awesome.

Is this community on it's deathbed or something?
I'm glad to see some people still HAVE a livejournal account and still post from time to time. I know that even after all these long years I still check in when I have a free moment, but I've noticed we've been going through another dry spell where only one or two people are posting anything. I encourage people, young and older, who are still with us to post something. This isn't a beauty contest group. This isn't a "send us your professional portraits" group. This isn't a "only the artistically/creatively inclinded" group. This is all those things AND more. Back in the day, this was like one big giant collage of a portriat of life itself in it's various forms. People hanging around their house. People hanging with friends at a park. People in love celebrating anniversaries. People documenting trips. People in candid moments. People in goofy moments. All that and more is what this group was made for. Who ever said there was an age/maturity limit to something like that? I don't remember seeing that anywhere in all the years I've been here. But if I'm wrong, and with facebook, dailybooth, and tumblr around I understand if a photo group like this is the 8-track of the internet. Hopefully this isn't the end and there will be more spring and summer pictures to come and if people are still posting by then hopefully for more years to come.

Now that I've said my peace, I got bored at work recently and grabbed my camera while on my break. Tried to be a little artsy in my goofy cartoonish way (well the first one's not, but the rest for sure). One regular pic and then two animated gifs under the cut. Enjoy!

-Mike.
